Cinela Zephyx Windshield
The ZEPHYX windshield offers wind protection, acoustic transparency, excellent handling noise, and a great number of OSIX suspension combinations to suit your microphone set up.
Zephyx and double layer main fabric
The high wind protection is achieved by natural ovoid shape of large diameter (18 cm), which helps omnidirectional aerodynamics and increases the area of protection around the microphone.
The main double layer fabric, used alone, allows a very good level of protection for light or medium winds and offers a perfect acoustic transparency (-1 dB @ 100 Hz; -2 dB @ 20 kHz).
Zephyx and long pile furZephyx and short pile fur
Short hair fur, added to the main fabric, increases the protection for about 10-12 dB without much wind hurt acoustic performances (-2 dB @ 100 Hz; -4/6 dB @ 20 kHz).
Alternatively, long hair fur enhances performance against wind noise (+4 to 5 dB between 50 and 200 Hz), especially at the cost of increased total volume without special degradation of the frequency response.
Zephyx and cage suspension
ZEPHYX windshield incorporates an exclusive feature of suspension that ensures effective vibration decoupling of the main cage itself.
The device is composed of a cross firmly secured to the central axis, which ends by isolators semi elliptical recessed into four points of the cage. This large base suspension, located within the volume, is complemented by a bellows with the function of windproof and flexible interface between the axis and the floating cage.
Zephyx single knob two axis swivel
For stereo or some surround recordings, the single knob two axis swivel (another CINELA exclusive) offers the advantages of a ball joint without disadvantages.
The shortened XLRM is fixed by a small knob and can be easily released without loosening the cap, in particular to permit the dismantling of the bellows.
Zephyx back cap
The back cover closes naturally by a top hooking and a bottom snap.
The suspension set is fixed to the cage by a single knob and allows a quick change indoor/outdoor.
Besides fabrics, furs and some screwing elements, ZEPHYX is composed of unbreakable plastic parts that allow safety manipulation and use.

The small internal swivel ensures compatibility with the OSIX suspensions for any short microphone.
For MS recordings, the Schoeps CCM 4/CCM 8 pair fits ZEPHYX perfectly. The performances give a lot of freedom for handling, in the tradition of the OSIX suspensions!
The thin and flexible cables coming from the suspension are connected to a single largest one to the XLR male (or other plug) through a small integrated housing. The internal circuit board provides a perfect positioning of the cables.
Zephyx suspension set with XLRF insert only
A special version of 3 pins XLR cable (Z-CABLE-XF), where the female XLR is limited to its contact insert protected by resin, allows the mounting of a MKH 40 or MKH 50 microphone. The membrane is thus at a good distance from the fabric at the front of the windshield. For this particular configuration, powerful but to be handled with care (the female XLR is not fixed to the cradle), it is necessary to use a suspension OSIX 2 with two straps (N-OSIX-2).
For those who already own an adaptable OSIX (see microphones list) and who wish to install it in a ZEPHYX, simply order the reference Z-BASE associated with a specific cable as Z-CABLE-X or Z-CABLE-XF. Without the cage, the suspension set is immediately usable for indoor.
For those who already have a ZEPHYX windshield with a specific mounting, and would like to use it for another microphone, simply order a suspension set (X-SET-xx) comprising all parts necessary for an immediate exchange between microphones.
