Schoeps CCM 8 Ex Display
The Schoeps CCM 8 Ex Display is in mint condition and has been checked over at Schoeps. Includes the Lemo to XLR cable, clip and wooden box.
The CCM 8 with its eight-characteristic is a true dipole with only one membrane. The meeting direction is laterally, ie perpendicular to the microphone body and is marked at 0 ° and at 180 ° by a red or a black dot on the microphone housing. The nature of the pressure gradient receiver is very clear in this type of microphone:
- the sensitivity drops to low frequencies;
- the directional diagram and thus the bundling measure are extremely little frequency-dependent;
- the proximity effect is pronounced.
The bundling of the eight is as high as in the kidney, but it does not absorb lateral sound (from 90 ° to the major axis). The sound of the MK 8 is relatively bright and neutral.
When using the CCM 8 as a support microphone, care must be taken to ensure that initial reflections do not strike the microphone at a short distance from the back, as sound from this direction is picked up by the capsule at the same level as the frontal but opposite sign, resulting in comb filter effects at higher frequencies can lead.
The CCM 8 is particularly suitable for the S-channel in MS and double MS stereo recordings, or as a pair – arranged at an angle of 90 ° one above the other – for Blumlein stereophony.
