After transforming a drab concrete building in Finsbury Park with the help of David Hughes Architects, the theatre opened its doors in May 2013. Solid Communication
The cutting-edge 1.9GHz DECT 6 wireless technology of the Hollyland C1 Pro, ensures that cues and comms are delivered with crystal-clear full duplex clarity. The system keeps users connected at distances of up to 350m, ensuring that the entire team stays in sync, no matter where they are in the venue.
Comfort Is Key
The over-ear leather ear cushions of the Solidcom headsets offer stability and comfort, ideal for the dynamic environment of a theatre. For those with different preferences, durable on-ear cushions are also available. The Hollyland C1 Pro headset’s long battery life of over 10 hours ensures the team can focus on delivering exceptional performances without concern.
No Beltpack Needed
By eliminating the need for belt packs or trailing wires, the Solidcom C1 Pro is easy to wear all day whilst also offering safety benefits – how many times has your beltpack cable got caught around a door handle!
Time To Talk
Solidcom C1 Pro offers out-of-the-box simplicity. Power on the headset, place it on your head, and start talking with your team instantly. The convenient TALK/MUTE button with PTT (Push-to-Talk) function adds convenience, allowing users to easily switch between TALK and MUTE modes. Simply press and hold the button to speak, then release to mute yourself. Alternatively, raising the boom will also automatically mute the headset.
Keep It Quiet
The system’s ENC technology significantly reduces background noise. A discrete additional microphone mounted on the earcup monitors sound in the environment and cancels it out prior to transmission, ensuring even the quietest whisper gets through clearly.
Helpful HUB
Whilst it is possible to use Solidcom C1 headsets without a Hub, it does enhance the system’s capabilities. Existing 2 or 4-wire wired comms systems and a program feed can be easily integrated. The Solidcom C1 PRO Hub Station will also allow headsets to be split into two separate groups and provide an additional directors headset with “Listen to me” function. The Hub supports up to eight remote headsets, along with the directors wired headset, however Hubs can be linked together for larger installations.

“Overall, the kit is great, it’s been hassle free and just works really well. From a venue point of view the set is super simple and really easy to configure, looking through the web interface for it was also really easy to use which really helps when you need to make changes, and it’s a big advantage being able to link to the in-house wired system. The range is also great – no issues using the kit throughout the building with no dropouts from one side to the other.
The noise cancelling feature has big advantages, and is not usually seen in theatre comms. The team have had to get used to not having a belt pack – usually the main operation being the push-to-talk feature – but they got used to it pretty quickly. And the battery life on the headsets is really solid. All in all, it’s a great product, with a really sleek compact design and simple to use”
